Environmental Initiatives / Remedial Projects
2003 West Properties ICM
FMC completed remedial work on 14 residential properties along a former water migration pathway west of the FMC plant in 2003.
The project, which began in July, included the excavation and backfilling of soil with some elevated levels of arsenic and restoration of the properties.
This Interim Corrective Measure (ICM) was done in cooperation with the governmental regulatory Agencies (United States Environmental Protection Agency, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the New York State Department of Health).
The residents whose homes were remediated were relocated for a two-week period for soil excavation activities and then returned to their homes for the restoration work. Homeowners worked with FMC to develop plans for restoring their individual properties.
